Adele Strauss

Adele Strauss M.Ac., Lic. Ac. graduated in 1993 with a Masters Degree in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture, from the New England School of Acupuncture. and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine, and certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

She has a background in Shiatsu (Japanese Acupressure) and psychotherapy. Over years of practice she has developed her own style of bodywork therapy.
Adele has devoted her life to the study and practice of Chinese Medicine, as well as to the the studies of eastern philosophies and world view, out of which Chinese Medicine developed.

In the interest of practicing preventative medicine, she recommends an individualized diet for each person, based on the pulse and tongue diagnosis. Not all diets are good for everyone, and some diets are often the primary factor in the cause of many conditions. Astute adjustment to the diet will often resolve the condition.

She also focuses on emotional causes of disease and explores with her clients, how one’s thinking can affect one’s health both negatively and positively.
She recommends regular exercise, Yoga or Tai Qi, and daily practice of meditation.

Since 1990 Adele has maintained and enjoyed a busy and flourishing practice, first in Shiatsu, and since 1993 in Acupuncture, Bodywork Therapy, and Herbal Medicine consultation.
She recommends herbs from American herbal pharmacies with the strictest quality control and the highest standards of purity.

There are many different ways of practicing Acupuncture. Adele specializes in Classical Acupuncture, which is distinctively different from the modern practice, know as TCM.

Please refer to the website’s page on Classical Acupuncture to learn about the difference between the styles.
For over 20 years, her experience with both Classical Chinese Medicine and Japanese Acupuncture has allowed her to develop a unique system of diagnosis.

Adele’s primary practice is still in Brighton, and she has clinical hours with the Lane Center in Hingham.
She is no longer at The Wellness and Integrative Medicine Center at North Shore Medical Center, in Danvers, where she practiced for eight years.

Working in a field as vast and ancient as Chinese Medicine, she is actively and passionately involved in ongoing studies and writing projects.

I am a strong believer in complimentary medicine both personally and professionally. I am an anesthesiologist, have studied medical acupuncture, and have been a client of Adele Strauss for over 10 years.

Adele has a profound knowledge of classical acupuncture that is reflected in her formulation of elegant treatment plans. She also has a broad understanding of many acupuncture styles that allow her to blend classical and cultural diagnostic and treatment techniques.

I consult with Adele as a first tier response to acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems and a host of nonspecific medical issues that are readily addressed with energetic medicine. As a result, I have minimized the need for more aggressive allopathic medical evaluation and treatment and/or pharmacologic intervention. I particularly enjoy pairing the acupuncture treatment with a wonderful massage.

To summarize, she is an artist, a scholar, and a phenomenal healer that I highly recommend without reservation.
